A Letter to My Mom

Since I believe that, in the Heavens above,The angels, murmurs to one another,Can discover, amid their flaming terms of adore, nobody so devotional as that of "Mother,"hence by that dear name I long have called you-You who are other than mother unto me,And fill my heart of hearts, Death installed youIn setting my Virginia's will free.My mother- my own mother, who died untimely, but the mother of myself; but youAre mother to the one I loved so dearly,And thus are dearer than the mother I knew
